[4] History of changes to this guide [1] What is the List for? The ANTS List is a *free* public forum for (email) dialogue between those who wish to discuss or announce anything related to Tesla or ANTS research and experimentation or related activities being conducted in the country of AUSTRALIA. This includes Tesla Coil and Magnifier construction in Australia, sourcing of parts and materials in Australia, and the fulfilment of the general activities, scope and objectives of ANTS. [2] How does the List work? [2.1] General The ANTS List is a moderated Internet mailing list. The administrator and moderator is Glenn Baddeley at email address gnb@werple.net.au who acts on behalf of the National Executive of the Australian Nikola Tesla Society. At present, it is not managed by list processing software, everything is done manually. Please feel free to send email regarding any comments or suggestions about the list, or queries about ANTS. [2.2] Submissions Send all submissions by email to ants@werple.net.au. Please specify 'ANTS' at the beginning of the subject line to differentiate submissions from any other messages sent to this address. Submissions are moderated several times a week and sent out to all the subscribers as individual email messages. All messages sent out contain a sequence number in the 'X-List-Seq:' mail header. [2.2.1] Basic rules 1. Stick to relevant subjects. Off topic submissions will be slightly tolerated. The moderator may add footnotes to comment on the relevance of subjects or any other matter. 2. Do not submit copyright material or make quotations without the consent of the original author if they are not subscribed to the list. 3. Please be courteous and considerate. 4. Use '>' as the prefix character to indicate message text being replied to. 5. The line length of the text should not exceed 80 characters. [2.2.2] Large submissions Large submissions (generally 20,000 bytes or more) will usually NOT be sent out to all the subscribers. The moderator may arrange for the submission to be placed on the Anonymous FTP site ftp.funet.fi in the directory /pub/sci/electrical/tesla/maillist/ants in a standard format, and an email message will be sent out to all subscribers announcing its content and location. Large submissions are accepted in any format or encoding, including UUENCODE and MIME. JPEG and GIF are the preferred formats for pictures. Text should preferably be in plain format and use the ISO 8859-1 character set, of which US ASCII (ISO 646) is a subset. "ASCII ART" is acceptable as long as it was created to be viewed using a fixed spacing font. Do not use the TAB character, use the SPACE character to achieve spacing. The 80 character limit for line lengths applies. The moderator reserves the right to edit large submissions to conform with these guidelines, with the cooperation of the author. [2.3] Subscribing Send subscriptions requests by email to ants@werple.net.au with 'subscribe ANTS' in the body of the message. You may wish to follow this with a brief description of yourself, such as your full name, what area you live in, and what aspects of Tesla or ANTS you are mainly interested in. This will be kept in confidence by the ANTS National Executive, and will only be published with your consent. The administrator and the ANTS National Executive reserves the right to disapprove subscription requests. All subscription requests will be acknowledged. [2.4] Unsubscribing Send unsubscription requests by email to ants@werple.net.au with 'unsubscribe ANTS' in the body of the message. You may wish to follow this with the reasons why you are unsubscribing. [2.5] Other functions [2.5.1] Latest copy of this guide To obtain the latest copy of this guide, send an email to ants@werple.net.au with 'info ANTS' in the body of the message.
