The program does NOT follow the guidelines for creating <1000 inhabitants cities, i.e. it does NOT check the fractional number of people and treat this as a percentage of one additional soldier/bard/whatever being present. • map.tar.Z (14 KB) [Sep 23 1992]

Postscript star map generator Having seen Travis McCord's program for creating MegaTraveller star maps on postscript, I thought it would be a good idea to write a program which would make star maps useful for other SF RPGs. I wanted one useful for GURPS Space, but the format is generic enough to be useful in many other games, I imagine. This post includes source code for the result: a program which will generate postscript star maps for SF RPGs. The program accepts data files which define stars in 3-dimensional space, so it is useful for realistic star positions. A sample data file, including the real life nearest 66 stars to our sun is included. Documentation is also included. • builder.zip (1740 KB) [Nov 21 1996]

The Fantasy World Builder(tm) is aimed to aid fantasy role-playing game masters in the design of a campaign QUICKLY. Requiring a 386 MS-DOS based PC with 585k conventional RAM, and 2meg of Expanded Memory (EMS), 256 color VGA, and a Microsoft Compatible mouse, the Fantasy World Builder requires little time to get a finished product. Using a graphical point-and-click interface with minimal keyboard use, the program will generate random maps for 2 types of dungeons (natural or cut), cities, and terrain. Whenever a city or dungeon is created, information on the new creation is stored on disk. When a world map is generated, you are given the option to include the previously generated file information in the generation of the world. This allows the computer to randomly place the cities and dungeons in the world. Copyright (c) 1996 Perry Horner P_HORNER@ASU.EDU

  • city216.zip (25 KB) [Jul 4 1996]

City is a spreadsheet tool for country designers. It answers such questions as 'If Freedonia is this size how many cities will it have?' This spreadsheet makes use of formulae devised by Ed Stephan, spreadsheets using them by Burton Choiski and equations added by Juha Vesanto. Quite a few changes have been made but (hopefully) the original ideas are not too distorted. Comments, queries and corrections to: hpttrsn@vossnet.co.uk The spreadsheet in three formats: Works for Windows 3.0 (city.wks), Excel (city.xls, and Lotus 1-2-3 (city.wk1). • geo-101.zip (142 KB) [Jul 27 1995]

Geo generates fractal maps. It gradually evolved in an attempt to create random, yet realistic, regional maps for fantasy gaming. Version 1.01 is the latest version, and the first to be released publicly. Its primary features are the fractal generator, the ability to load and save map files, displaying the map as a simulated "globe", and various features for tweaking the map characteristics. Geo runs only on 80286 processors or better; it would be ridiculously slow on anything less. You also need around 450K of RAM and VGA capable of displaying 16 colors in 640x480. I use DOS 4.01 and haven't tried it on anything else. Source code is included. Copyright 1994 By Michael Harvey.

    Cyberspace Matrix Program for Shadowrun

Cyberspace Program for Shadowrun Version 2.2

Version 2.2 is out with real time decking and login time display!

This version follows the rules of SR 2.01 and VR 1.0! VR 2.0 is currently not supported, because it is totally different and not that interesting to play on a computer.

      Hoi Decker!

      • Enjoy the Matrix in a DOOM (TM) like environment, preserving all SR-rules.
      • No more boring Matrix grid descriptions from your GM!
      • See the Matrix from inside in 3D, a view you have ever dreamed about.
      • See and hear the ICE. However be aware of Trace and Burn or Tar Pit ICE. See e.g. Scramble as snake and Probe as Sherlock Holmes (over 70 ICE images).
      • Use your satellite uplink, cruise through the satellite network of Tessier Ashpool, if you dare.
      • Use your Reality filter or a pure cybernetic link, if you are lucky to have one.
      • You may even create your own images for the nodes and the ICE display!
      • The cartographer shows the map of visited already nodes.

      Hoi Gamemaster!

      • Stop boring most of your players with long Matrix Run playtime.
      • Let the decker fiddle around with your challenging Matrix, while you occupy your other players.
      • And use the Matrix Construction Set to create challenging networks by simple point and click, without knowing many of the rules in detail!

GMCALC 32 Enhanced for Windows 95 or NT by Coyt D. Watters (watters.10@osu.edu). This is a calculator for GMs for games using random values (dice). It has controls for the normal d4,d6,d8,d10,d12,d20 and d100, plus special controls for GURPS, FUDGE, Star Wars, Prime Directive, Storyteller and ARS Magica. In addition it sports several buttons for manipulating the dice values generated, so they can be sorted, pick only so many high (or low) values, or even generate ANY number of rolls for ANY number of sides. The numbers generated by the dice buttons can be used in calculations, so computing something like 12+6d6 is easy. Custom programing sequences are also available, so if a person uses a special roll (like that Star Wars character with a 6d+3 blaster jury-rigged for 3 more dice), it can be programmed onto it's own button.

RMSS Character Management program By Gary Renaud . The program will run under Windows 3.1, Windows 95, and NT 3.5. It will PROBABLY work under NT 4.0, but it is untested. The program: * Generates RMSS characters of levels 1 to 255(!). * Supports all races in RMSR (plus a few more), and all classes and spells in all books published to date. * Selectable between Talents and Flaws in RMSR and a background system like in RMCI. It does not support Talent Law. * Adjustable initial stat points (including number of dice). * Adjustable development point multiplier * Uses US or SI measurements for height and weight * Characters saved in standard Access 2.0 files so GM can hack if needed. * Characters can be printed, saved as ASCII, or formatted into Word 6.0 documents. * Selectable which skills will print; some can print in boldface * NPC option allows GM to "cheat" by overspending stat or development points, and to reroll backgrounds, talents, flaws. * Option to modify or ignore the silly 5 lists/level rule. * Advance-and-Keep allows you (after level 5 or so) to rapidly run an NPC up in levels. This won't work of course if you limit spells lists/level. * Context-sensitive help (just press F1) * Generic skills (like 1H Slash) have all the instances (dagger, short sword, ...) that I could think of included, and you can add your own. By modifying the main database (using Access 2.0, the appendix in the manual, and a lot of patience), you can add, delete, or change: * The races. * The classes. * The skills. * The spell lists. * The training packages. * Talents, Flaws, and RMCI-style Backgrounds * RRs * Even the Stats You may need to fetch some standard DLL from elsewhere, if you don't already have them.

PROGRAM NAME: "Worldmap" [v1.0] {January 1996} AUTHOR: Jim Vassilakos (jimv@cs.ucr.edu) FUNCTION: Mapping Worlds, Cities, Castles, Dungeons, and Starships for RPG settings & scenarios OPERATING SYSTEM: IBM (MS-DOS) COMMENTS: Create maps so you can share your worlds/ dungeons/etc with the rest of us on the Net. Some minor glitches exist when operating under Windows, so straight DOS is preferred. Program draws maps pretty slowly except on relatively high-end machines with decent video ram. Comes complete with five example maps along with some attached text including a short adventure. Note, you must use "-d" option when unzipping: >>>>>>>> pkunzip -d worldmap.zip <<<<<<<< UPGRADE: Go to my homepage at http://www.cs.ucr.edu/~jimv/, go to the programs section, and pick-up a copy of the update there under the heading "Worldmap Upgrade (v1.0 to v1.0b)". Notice that the upgrade without the is no good by itself without the files of v1.0. _ /| Jim Vassilakos \`o_O' jimv@empirenet.com ( ) jimv@cs.ucr.edu U San Bernardino, California

The front sheets differ in the relative amount of space given for weapons vs. contacts. The intent is to mix one front sheet with one back for a single, full sheet. Game Master's Mystical Mind is a gametime Role-Playing Game Aid for use with Microsoft Windows 3.1 or later. It is particularly well-suited for use with the Advanced Dungeons and Dragons Game System. The program allows for monitoring of combat elements real-time including all Monster statistics, and the ability to check for hits and misses on the fly. The program also utilizes a Game-time clock and excellent Spell and Player Database Capabilities. The spell-casting module allows for automatic Spell duration calculation, and monitors spell effects and durations during and between combat rounds. The combat tables can be saved in the middle of combat, or can be pre-generated, and stored for future use. This is a powerful time-saving tool for the GM, as random encounters can be pre-saved, and then brought up when needed. Other useful features include a Game Log, Dice Module, an attack sequence module, and a general input area which recognizes specifically phrased English for speech recognition hardware. This program is FREEWARE and can be distributed in un-altered form.

Forgotten Futures -- Collection II - The Log Of The Astronef A Role Playing Game & Sourcebook for George Griffith's Scientific Romances By Marcus L. Rowland Copyright 1993, 1994 All text documents are ASCII files with line breaks. Tabs are not used; they are replaced by spaces. To get a neat printout set printers to a non-proportional typeface, at least seventy characters per line, otherwise some editing will be needed. Files are not edited to conform to any particular page layout; it's advisable to check pagination, and possibly insert some page breaks, before printing. You may also wish to choose a small typeface, since they total several hundred pages. The only text files you NEED to print out are TABLES.TXT, which may be needed in the course of play, and possibly the rules synopsis SUMMARY.TXT and adventure ADVENT2.TXT; everything else can just be read from the screen as you need it. To ensure that the text files can be read by any computer or word processor, some IBM extended ASCII characters (such as accents in names and the British pound currency symbol) have been omitted or changed. The pound sign has been replaced by the symbol "#", which isn't normal British usage; if you would prefer the real thing, it's IBM character 156. If you don't have a UK keyboard driver loaded, hold down ALT while typing 156 on the numeric keypad. I don't know how to obtain this character on other systems. These, and the omission of italics etc., are the only intentional changes. Reproduction of the six Astronef stories for scholastic purposes etc. is encouraged. However, it should be made clear that these files are NOT 100% ACCURATE - there are probably uncorrected errors, and the changes described above have been made. I CAN ACCEPT NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR PROBLEMS ARISING FROM ERRORS IN THESE FILES: IF YOU ARE USING THEM FOR A THESIS, OR ANYTHING ELSE THAT REQUIRES COMPLETE ACCURACY, YOU ARE STRONGLY ADVISED TO REFER TO ORIGINAL SOURCES! HarnMaster stuff mostly from sunbane.engrg.uwo.ca. Harn is both a background and a Role Playing game covering the middle ages with a small amount of magic and non-human races. The game has many similarities to Runequest, and is in the same general genre of Dungeon & Dragons. The world is the most detailed and "realistic" that I have encountered.

Greetings, The following graphics were created using an Amiga 2000 computer, a Panasonic 1410 BW Camera and Digi-View 4.0 softwarefrom New Tek, an Image processing program called Pixmate and Deluxe Paint III for Text and final composition. They were first digitized in the Amiga's HAM (Hold and Modify) mode as modified by New Tek. This mode allows up to 4096 colors on the screen, with each scan line able to have it's own palette. The screen resolution used was 320 X 400, which on an Amiga is called Lores/Interlace mode. This gives about the best range of colors and the sharpest image, although because of the Commodore's desire to maintain NTSC compatibility, the image does flicker a bit. The digitized image was then loaded into Pixmate and converted into a 16 color picture. By converting to 16 colors, I reduced the file size by about 30% (reducing download time) and hoped that the fewer colors would allow more people to view the finished images. After I was satisifed with the final Amiga version of the image, I converted it to the GIF format using a PD Amiga to GIF conversion program. After digitizing a number of images, the results were combined using Arc. I hope that many of you can view these images using the GIF format, but since I do not have access to other brands of computers, I have no way of knowing how everything looks on other machines. Your feedback, and your sugestions are most welcome. I am willing to digitize and convert images to any number of resolutions and/or colors that my machine can handle. Let me know what the capabilities of YOUR machines are and I'll try my best. Black and white line art might be an option for some work. This Archive Should Contain the following files: File Description Amiga Mode World.GIF View of World 640 X 400 World ReadMe This File ASCII Till Later, Mark Campbell Lake Oswego, OR USA P.S. You can reach me on This board or on GEnie: M.Campbell8.

Rolemaster Character generation sheets by Robert Wenner (wenner@rheinsieg.de) These Excel sheets are used to generate a 2nd edition Rolemaster character record. The main reason for the sheets is to get rid of bookkeeping, browsing through various tables and books, and not to compute everything manual. In some way the sheets work as a character generator, but it is only a basic and very simple approach on character generation, added just for fun. There is no character management, neither for PCs nor NPCs.

My address is (snail mail): Björn Asle Taranger Hammerstadsgaten 23 A N-0363 Oslo Norway Note: Due to ICE copyright restrictions, I am not allowed to supply descriptions of races, professions, herbs, spells, etc. This information can, however, be inserted by the users of this database, since I have facilitated a memo-field (or more) To use this Character Generator, you need to have MS Access 2.0 installed on your computer. There have been some attempts to use this with MS Access 7.0, but unfortunately there are some conversion problems with this. I am not able to support the conversion to Access 7.0, since I do not use Access 7.0 on my computer. I have made some changes to the tables, so this version (release 2) is not directly compatible with the previous releases. Shouldn't be too difficult to enter the "good old" character into the new database, though.

The Neoanarchists Guide to Everything Else is a collection of articles, archetypes, rules, items, spells, ideas and stories for Shadowrun. It was published in six volumes during the early 1990s. These nine files contain all of the articles in the Neoanarchists Guide to Everything Else volumes I-VI, all combined into one book, with one index. Whenever possible, the rules, spells, arcetypes and other aspects of the book have been updated to Shadowrun: Second Edition. This includes the spell list, which now has page references as well. A couple of articles have also been added to this compilation. The files are in PDF format and require Adobe Acrobat to view/print (Acrobat Reader is free from http://www.adobe.com). The original NAGEE was edited by Jerry Stratton and Tony Moller. The volumes were compiled by Wordman (http://pobox.com/~wordman).

It's a blast! Read the users' comments on my WWW-pages :-) New at this release (2.7): * Different Reality (New images for military grids) * A lot of features I canīt mention here.

DESCRIPTION: Shadowrun 2nd ed character sheets FILES: Front.Z, Rigger.Z, Samurai.Z, Magician.Z, Decker.Z DOC: These are new character sheets for FASA's Shadowrun 2nd edition role-playing game. These are way better than the ones provided in the rule books, and they look cooler, too! And they are also somewhat compatible with the first edition, although they are really for the 2nd ed. You are supposed to have one Front sheet for every character, since it contains data about skills & attributes and one secondary sheet according to your type. (Samurai contains a lot of room for cyber/bioware, Magician has room for spells, etc.) These are in pure PostScript form, so you should be able to print them on any PS-capable printer. These sheets were made by Lester Ward, ward1@husc8.harvard.edu, I believe. Thanks, Lester!

  • SRShts22.pdf (76 KB) [Jun 25 1998]

Shadowrun 2nd Edition character sheets in PDF format (requires Adobe Acrobat 3.0 Reader or better, available free from http://www.adobe.com). There are three different front sheets and ten different backs. Each back is customized for a different type of character. The current types are: cybered magician, magician, mage/decker, rigger, rigger/decker, samurai, mercenary, gadgeteer, physical adept, physical mage and otaku. The front sheets differ in the relative amount of space given for weapons vs. contacts. The intent is to mix one front sheet with one back for a single, full sheet. I've been told by several people that these are the best sheets they've seen. They've also been called "a modern classic". Sheets are free, authored by me (http://pobox.com/~wordman)

This file will give you some info on critical.doc and fusion.gun files. Both files are written with Word for Windows version 2.0c (HPII Laser printer), so it would be much easier to edit and print with Word for Windows than any other text processing program. Critical.doc file contains alternative critical strike tables for 6 most used criticals in Spacemaster (Heat, Impact, Internal Disruption, Plasma, Puncture and Shrapnel). The Plasma critical (taken from Rolemaster) is used with Fusion Guns (Fusion Gun attack table is in fusion.gun file), Plasma critical may also be used also with Plasma Repeators. Critical.doc file contains also armor penalties chart. It contains alternative armor penalties, masses, costs for each body part (armor which covers the whole body contains chest armor, 4 leg armors and 4 arm armors). The usage of alternative critical tables: First you roll on Random Body Hit Location chart. If foe wears armor in the attack location use normal DB, if not use DB without possible armor bonuses. Then make your attack against opponent, check the result in attack table with the armor on attack area (if no armor in attack area use AT 1). Then roll critical on alternative critical tables. Note 1: A critical 0 to roll, B critical +10 to roll, C critical +20 to roll, D critical +30 to roll, E critical +40 to roll. Author: Keijo T Lehtosaari .

The fusion.gun contains 2 new attack tables, Fusion Gun Attack Table and Extra Heavy Flamer Attack Table. Fusion Guns are new, powerful version from Blasters (Fusion Gun mass is 3x mass of Blasters and Fusion Gun cost is 7x cost of Blasters). Extra Heavy Flamer is heavier version from Heavy Flamer (cost and mass is 1.5x Heavy Flamer mass and cost). Author: Keijo T Lehtosaari .

Law system to be used in almost any rpg system. Word from the author: This system is based on a law system presented in one of the Shadow World modules. I have made heavy alterations to original rules and I also have heavily expanded the old system which only handled crimes of theft, murder and assault + few minor offences like perjury, disturbing peace (and even those it handled very badly). So 95 % of the rules are of my own design and have not what so ever to do with ICE. Only the terminology has been adapted allmost like it was. While this system was made to work with Rolemaster it's easy to understand that it shall work with any medieval roleplaying game and with few alterations it could be made to work with modern day RPG:s. But it would be good if the system was somewhat precice about damage done in battle, so that the "judge" can decide wheter it resulted in permanent serious damage or was it just some mild injury which shall get better in few days. I hope you find this Law System usefull. If you have any ideas or comments or questions about the rules, please let me know. Also, any feedback on the former files is more than welcome, especially comments on the lay-out, on the level the several spells are listed in or on any other topic concerning the contents of the files. Lastly, if you have any more spells, which I can add to the list, please e-mail them to me or post them, so that you will be included in my next Great Net Spellbook update as well.
