This directory contains the Xlib and X Protocol Test Suite, Release 1.2.

The release is in a single compressed tar file, split into pieces.  The
split pieces (xtest.0[0-6]) are all 512k (524288 bytes) long (except for
the last piece) and must be transfered in binary mode.  You will find it
useful to turn off interactive prompting in ftp (start ftp with the -i
option or use the "prompt" command) and use the "mget" command to retrieve
the files.

After transferring all of the files, please read the release notes for
information on how to extract and build the software.

Since the time the Test Suite was made public, R5 support for the XTEST
extension has been made public.  The R5 patch required to build the
XTEST extension is R5 public patch 18; you will need to apply all R5
public patches up through patch 18 to build and use the XTEST extension.
