Just purchased new a SABRE from Into the Wind.
Anyone have any comments on this kite? Good or bad.
It looks great but I havn't had enough wind to get out and play.

Any comments would be appreciated.

Hi Jack,

I am on my second Sabre. I bought one last summer and that kite
definitely took a beating. Not only did I learn on it, but so did my
kids and any friends I could con into trying it. When I decided to pass
it on I had only spent about $10 on repairs and rubber caps for the keel
spar (too many unscheduled landings) It may not be the easiest kite to
learn on but it will definitely keep your interest. I have recently
received this years model of the Sabre with the velcro closure at the
tail. Only suggestion on this, DO NOT MAKE IT TOO TIGHT, or you may rip
out the tail during a crash (if you are still at the crashing stage). The
other Sabre had a bungee cord over a nock.

We are in the process of starting a team, all of us are
novice/intermediate flyers, and decided to use the Sabre as our team kite
because of the abuse it seems to be able to take and the reasonable price.
The last person to join us had never flown a Sabre before, used mine and
was doing axles and coin tosses in less that half an hour. He normally
flys a HQ Maestrale, real trick kite, and was impressed enough with the
Sabre to order one that day for the team flying.

Since my first Sabre I have bought other Aerie kites and have been please
with them all. I am not affiliated with Aerie Kiteworks in any way just
have been real pleased with them. Oh, as you get more used to it, it
will surprise you in how light a wind it will fly. I remember one day late
last summer I was flying my Air FX because I thought the winds were too
light for my Sabre, my son decided to drag it (the Sabre) out and off he
went with few problems.

All of the above is just my humble opinion. If you have any more
questions just e-mail me at zihlman@uts.cc.utexas.edu.

Good luck
Eddie Zihlman Jr.
